  LEARNING TO OBSERVE

A classroom observation is the purposeful examination of teaching and/or learning events through the systematic processes of data collection and analysis .The observation should  be for judgment of the teacher’s teaching methods, styles and skills, or an assessment of the teacher’s knowledge of disciplinary content.Classroom observation has been used for long time to evaluate the quality of teaching provided.

Whatever you predict in one moment by observing is called learning to observe. Our teacher divided us into groups of eight , where four students will play the role of teacher & the rest four will act as students.  The teacher will teach us a topic. In this activity both teacher & student will do observation of each other.

TOPIC: SOCIAL CHANGE

In this activity I played a role of a student where I did observation of my teacher based on the points mentioned above & our topic was social change.

  • Method of teaching –  She used lecture method & question answer method for teaching.

  • Way of Controlling the class- She maintained proper discipline in the class. She was very strict.

  • Explanation- Her way of explanation was very attractive . She explained the topic in detail by linking it with real life examples, which made the concept clear of the students.

  • Attentiveness of the student- All the students were attentive in the class. They were taking interest in the topic taught by teacher.

  • Feedback- She doesn’t took feedback after completing the topic.

Disperse/ Dismiss- She dispersed the class in a proper way by informing students that they can leave the class.

What I learned from this workshop?

At the end of this workshop that we can learn by observing. When I played a role of student  i observed what all points should be looked after while teaching a class.  I learned that a teacher should give more & more examples to make the content of the topic clear to the students & a teacher should maintain proper discipline in the class.
